Meet Kate

Kate Colavecchio has spent nearly three decades transforming the educational space from the inside out. Working across almost every layer of education, she has gained a breadth of experience leading systems, strengthening schools, supporting educators, guiding families, and helping students thrive.

Her career has taken her from district leadership and systems planning to school redesign, inclusion strategy, program development, staff support, and family guidance. She has worked in suburban, urban, and rural communities, giving her a deep understanding of how different schools, systems, and people experience both challenge and change.

Kate’s greatest strength is how she artfully brings her breadth of experiences together. Kate has a rare ability to see the whole picture while still recognizing the individual pieces within it: the student whose needs have not yet been fully understood, the educator carrying more than they should have to carry, the family trying to find a clear path forward, the program with untapped potential, and the system ready for meaningful change.

Kate believes the strongest educational solutions are both thoughtful and practical. They require experience, collaboration, careful listening, and genuine understanding of the people at the center of the work. 

This belief is what led her to create Colavecchio Consulting.

Today, Kate works along schools, districts, educational organizations, and families to navigate meaningful challenges with clarify, confidence, and care. She brings the perspective of a seasoned educational leader, the curiosity to look closely at what is really happening, and the commitment to help every client see how the individual pieces together. 

For Kate, education has always been about people and helping each piece of the mosaic come together to create a stronger, more connected whole.

This work was recently recognized at the state level with Kate and her MTSS team presenting at the Performance Matters Forum in November.

  • For years, Kate and I consulted about our respective classrooms and constantly supported each other in IEP and program development. We developed a common interest in co-teaching, specially designed instruction and shared a strong belief in LRE and FAPE.
